PSLab Oscilloscope: What frequency does your voice have? Let’s find out and Help to Test that the PSLab app works on Your Phone

ABOUT

An oscilloscope, previously called an oscillograph, and informally known as a scope or o-scope, CRO, or DSO, is a type of electronic test instrument that graphically displays varying signal voltages, usually as a two-dimensional plot of one or more signals as a function of time.

TASK OBJECTIVE

The goal of this task is to test the app on your phone and learn how to use the Oscilloscope with the device microphone as an input sensor.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Android phone with a) microphone enabled as a sensor input device and b) PSLab app installed and the Oscilloscope instrument opened

TASK

Open the Android app and enable the microphone. Test the app with different sounds and use your voice singing from low to high pitch. While doing so, take screenshots of the app. Also use the recording function of the instrument. When finished upload the screenshots to the task documentation. Also export and upload the recording. Let your mentors know if there have been any issues.

EXPECTED OUTCOME

  • A recording of the experiment in CSV format and screenshots.
