The Terasology Foundation
Updated training videos for dev setup
Updated training videos for dev setup
Once in a while somebody will prepare a video showing them setting up to run Terasology from source then proceed to develop something minor to demonstrate. But these videos go out of date as the project changes.
The goal of this task is to make a new series of videos showcasing the very latest code and utility, such as using the groovyw
script to fetch and update modules.
Alternatively this could also be done for Destination Sol or some of our tool projects (the Box2D Editor, Kallisti + JNLua, etc)
Acceptance Criteria
- A series of videos are submitted online in a public video sharing site - likely Youtube, but Vimeo would also work as a playlist
- These videos should show the process from start to finish (cloning the code to the game running from source) so incase of project changes in future, one can replace only a single video out of the playlist instead of making a whole new video.
- Include a few new elements like how to use the
groovyw
script and some new modules of interest like the ModuleTestingEnvironment or TestReplayModule
Where to start
- See some older example videos like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2t5Xl0Zxos or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCMQ5VaKnfw or even this blog guide by Nihal
- Review the Terasology dev docs, such as https://metaterasology.github.io/docs/developerIntro/fullWorkspace.html
- Consider searching Google for tips and tricks to make nice and engaging instructional videos. For instance you can use text-based annotation instead of voice instructions (those can be edited over time and translate easier)
