The Terasology Foundation
Set up a headless game server, write feedback on usability
One of the biggest features of Terasology is the multiplayer aspect of the game. As part of this task, we would like the students to set up a headless multiplayer server, play around in it with their friends and report back any issues they encounter or suggestions they have.
Note: We'd love to hear your critique of our documentation and the overall process here so we as maintainers can improve our setup further. Instructions for actual players to set up better are good too, but we want to make it easier in the first place :-)
Acceptance Criteria
- Student should provide step-by-step review notes including screenshots of the game showing other players in-game. This should be provided in a separate document (not a task comment!) like a GitHub Gist or forum thread
- If any steps fail include details for the failure and review the issue with a mentor before submitting the task (get guidance on whether it is a Terasology issue or an issue of misconfiguration)
Where to start
- Read the instructions for how to handle multiplayer
- Download the game launcher - https://github.com/MovingBlocks/TerasologyLauncher/releases
- If the launcher proves problematic download the game zip directly instead
- Start a new server with some modules enabled and get at least one other player to join (even if it is just you on a second client)
