OSGeo: Join the OSGeo community
The goal of this task is introduce yourself to the OSGeo community.
1.Create a wiki account for yourself
- goto https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Main_Page and in the top-right corner click "Request Account"
- complete the username, email address, real name fields (for real name, you can use an alias if you wish, or just your first name)
- in the "Personal biography" section write "I am a GCI 2018 student, working on the Join the OSGeo Community task" and also a sentence of your technology interests or OSGeo interests. (do not mention your country or town or school, or any personal location information such as address or phone)
- leave the "Other information" section empty
- agree to Terms of Service, and enter the code word
- click "Request Account" button
- paste your username here in the task as a comment, as the mentor has to approve your wiki account request
2.Add your name & link to your wiki profile page on the OSGeo wiki. Click on "Edit" in the top right & make your changes
3.Please subscribe to the OSGeo gci-discuss mailing list (subscribe) and send an email there to introduce yourself to the OSGeo community & a link to your new wiki page (same rules apply: don't mention your location or any personal details in the email, just say hello to the OSGeo community and a sentence of your interests, and that you are excited to join the OSGeo community, and state your first name or alias) . Please set a meaningful SUBJECT in your email, such as "My Introduction to the OSGeo community".
