Implement art assets for Light & Shadow
Light & Shadow (L&S) is one of Terasology's major gameplay modules - a gamemode that has chess pieces waging war in an Alice in Wonderland-inspired setting, with the player being an independent chesspiece that can choose to join one of the factions or operate independently. Bringing the L&S word to life requires a large number of assets, from 3D models for chesspiece NPCs to interior decorations and custom cardsy trees.
Definition of 'Done'
- A pull request containing one or more assets described in issue #2575 in Terasology's issue tracker is submitted to the Light & Shadow resource repository.
Where to start?
- Most of the assets have concept art available that can be used as a reference (ask us on IRC!)
- 2D assets can be created in any image editor of your choosing.
- Terasology currently supports .md5 or Wavefront .obj models - a Blender importer is also available. To familiarize yourself with 3D modeling, check out an online tutorial such as https://cgcookie.com/flow/introduction-to-blender/. No fancy lighting or shading is required - in fact, the models should be fairly simple in terms of polygon counts.
